The Importance of Sperm Donation

In the world of fertility and assisted reproduction, our sperm donors play a pivotal role in empowering single women, same-sex couples, and heterosexual couples, on their journey towards parenthood. Our sperm bank offers a wide range of high-quality donor sperm to those seeking fertility treatments. Let's delve into the significance of our sperm donors.

Fertility Treatment - The Role of a Sperm Donor

Sperm banking is a huge industry, and sperm has become a commercial product. But at Born, we think it’s important to get to know our donors really well – we see them as part of our extended family. Each of them is special in their own way, and we can vouch for them all.

Sperm donors provide high-quality sperm to help others conceive. Their contributions open up new possibilities for individuals and couples facing fertility challenges. Donated sperm is instrumental in various fertility treatments, such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF), significantly increasing the chances of successful conception and pregnancy.

The Vitality of Sperm Banks - High-Quality Donor Sperm

All our donors are carefully selected, screened, and medically tested. Our infectious and genetic disease testing standards exceed the regulations set by the Danish Health Authority and the EU Tissues and Cells Directive, and our laboratories and procedures are licensed by the Danish Patient Safety Authority.

We take our responsibility very seriously, and we know that fertility treatment with donor sperm can be a treatment with strong feelings involved. We want to make sure we are providing the highest level of service and understanding towards the people who choose us to help them start a family.

How to Find a Donor

Prospective parents are given access to extensive information about the donors to choose from, including physical characteristics, medical history, and personal attributes. This transparency allows individuals to make informed choices when selecting the most suitable donor for their family-building journey.

Finding the perfect donor for your family can be a challenging process, therefore, we have gathered some key things to consider when deciding on a donor, which you can find here.

Donor Selection and Confidentiality

While recipients have access to detailed donor profiles, it is not possible for you to contact the donor. This confidentiality ensures a balance between empowering recipients in their decision-making and ensuring that the donor has privacy. The donor selection process involves thorough counseling to ensure that donors fully comprehend the implications of their contribution. This also means informing them of their choice to be a "no ID release donor", which means that the donor child will not have the possibility to contact the donor once they become of legal age. An "ID release donor", on the other hand, allows for contact when the child is old enough.

Realising the Dream - Finding the Right Donor

The children born as a result of assisted reproductive techniques using donor sperm bring immeasurable joy and happiness to families worldwide. These children serve as a testament to the incredible impact of sperm donation and the wonders of modern science in realising the dream of parenthood.

Born Donors Are Altruistic

The great majority of our donors have become donors because they want to help others, which is why many of them are also blood donors. They take their responsibilities seriously.

Born Donors Are Skilled

A large percentage of our donors are Danish students with a university degree or higher. Some of our donors have already begun careers while most play a sport or are active in arts or music, some of them at a professional level.

Born Donors Give a Strictly Limited Amount

Born is one of the few sperm banks in the world that set a worldwide maximum of families per donor. It's important to us that our ID-release donors can live up to the requirement for personal contact with the donor children if they so wish when they reach the age of majority.

Born Donors Are Rigorously Screened for Genetic and Infectious Diseases

All our donors are carefully selected, screened and medically tested. Our infectious and genetic disease testing standards exceed the regulations set by the Danish Health Authority and the EU Tissues and Cells Directive. Our laboratories and procedures are licensed by the Danish Patient Safety Authority.
