Blocking of Donors and Handling of Adverse Events

At Born Donor Bank, we take any adverse event or suspicion of a genetic condition very seriously and ensure that all cases are handled by qualified healthcare professionals in accordance with clear procedures. If a genetic concern arises, the donor’s gametes are immediately blocked while a careful medical and genetic assessment is carried out. During this time, the gametes are not to be used. All relevant clinics are informed, and the case is reported to the Danish Patient Safety Authority (Styrelsen for Patientsikkerhed, STPS).

If a donor you have used is affected, you will be contacted directly by the clinic where you received your treatment.

Once the assessment is complete, the donor is either released if the risk is below 1% or permanently blocked if there is an increased risk.

Below, you can see a list of donors who are currently temporarily quarantined or permanently blocked. Please note that the duration of an investigation can vary considerably from case to case. We understand that this uncertainty can be concerning, and we want to reassure you that we will share updates as soon as new information becomes available.
